Cynthia Deng is a designer, researcher, and educator. She is currently architecture faculty at the Querétaro campus of Tecnológico de Monterrey, and co-founder of bags, a repair-centered interdisciplinary design collaboration. She graduated from Harvard University Graduate School of Design with a Master in Architecture with Distinction and a Master in Urban Planning. Before that, she earned a B.A. in Architecture with Distinction from Yale University. She has worked in architecture offices in the US, Mexico, and China. Most recently, she was the recipient of the 2021 KPF Paul Katz Fellowship, GSD Dean’s Merit Scholarship, Harvard David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies Grant, the Mexican Cities Initiative Fellowship. Her work and writing has been published in Log, Platform, Retrospecta, Disc, Paprika, and Harvard Urban Forum. She has taught Harvard GSD Design Discovery Virtual as well as GSD January Term courses, and has co-led workshops for Archipelago architecture festival and others.
